Mia Zabelka

(born and resident in Vienna), composer. Mag.a art Zabelka studied violin, composition, electro-acoustic music, musicology and journalism. She developed experimental improvisation techniques with electric violin and voice and has explored the relationship between body, gesture, sound and space. Electronic devices and computers serve to create expanded sound spectra. She has given numerous multimedia performances and concert in Europe, the USA and USSR. Zabelka has received commissions for steirischer herbst, Jeunesse, Wiener Festwochen, Bonner Tage für Neue Musik, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Inventionen Berlin, New Music America, Vienna Konzerthaus Society, De Ijsbreker Amsterdam, ORF Kunstradio, GRAZ2003.
From 1995 to 2000 she directed the Klangturm St.Pölten. In 2002 she founded “colophony circuit”, with electric indigo. In 2003 Mia Zabelka founded One Night Band.
