Jolanta Zdechlikiewicz

Jolanta Zdechlikiewicz (25/10/1959, Czeladż, Poland) is a composer of contemporary classical music. From 1979 to 1984 she studied the theory of music, later to 1988 composition with Edward Bogusławski at the Music Academy in Katowice. During a few next years she has studied with Witold Szalonek (professor of Hochschule der Künste in Berlin). She participated in some summer courses in contemporary music composition in Kazimierz Dolny and Repin where she followed lectures by L.Andriessen,W. Lutosławski, Schaffer, J.D.Kramer, Leeuw. From 1985 she works as a teacher and from 1988 as a freelance composer. She writes for solo instruments, chamber groups, orchestras, also for children. She is interested in huge performances (with using picturesque, computer animation) with great number of children spontaneously playing on untypical instruments together with professional musicians. In 2006 she awarded a grand prix on Festival of Chamber Music in Chwałowice for “Garden of butterflies” played on the prepared piano and sixty (or more) coloured glasses. Her compositions were premiered during festivals in Poland and in Germany (Warsaw Autumn, Silesian Days of Contemporary Music, Rainbow Music, Festival of Silesian Composers, Festival of Polish Culture in Berlin).She cooperates with Silesian Society of Music, in 2008 and 2009 prepared for them special programs for children with own music and script.
