Gunilla Wallenström

(born in 1948, resident Huskvarna,Sweden), is a Swedish composer mainly for choirs. She worked as a church musician from 1974 and has now retired but is still composing. Wallenström studied at the Roayl College of Music in Stockholm with Eric Ericson among others and was already then fascinated by the choral music. In 1974 she moved to Gällivare in northern Sweden, to work as a music teacher. Here in Norrland, she also took up her knowledge in playing the organ in order to be able to start to work with different choirs in Kiruna and Jukkasjärvi. Later she began work in Hakarp parish where she stayed for 17 years until her retirement. An extra special collaboration for Wallenström was when her choir in Hakarp worked together with Jönköping's Sinfonietta and winds from Gothenburg Symphony orchestra, performing one of Bach's cantatas.
