İlkim Tongur

Composer, choir conductor and writer was born in Ankara, Turkey, 1977. She studied at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State The conservatory Istanbul. She played oboe and piano, graduated in first place from composition and conducting in 2001. She have been composition M.Mus degree in 2004 from same institution. She conducted the The conservatory Choir in several acapella concerts, along with projects with Symphony Orchestra such as Saygun Old Style Cantata(2005) and Mozart Reqiem(2006). She co-authored Bodrum Philarmony Project (2006-09), and also wrote short stories and recently won an award from the Ankara Library in Toronto(2011). She composed for solo instruments, chamber groups, electroacoustics and orchestra, and her music is performed in Turkey and Canada. She still continues her composition education on graduate level in University of Manitoba, Winnipeg/MB, Canada.
