Vakia Stavrou

(born in Cyprus), composer. Vakia Stavrou, a singer and songwriter, originally from Cyprus, graduated from Prague's Conservatory where she studied voice, was signed by Sony in Greece, and started her career some years ago with the participation of "Helidonia tis Vrohis"of George Andreou and poet Dionisis Karatzas. Soon after she made a huge impact among the Greek R adio stations with a song she wrote and performed in Portuguese, titled "Sozinha" which was included on her first personal EP WITH Sony. Since then she has been giving concerts in London, her native Cyprus, quite a few times in Paris, as well in Lisbon, in Athens and recently in Moscow (at the New Opera Theatre) where she performed with the Ossipov Orchestra. Her new CDPORTRAIT (2010) is her personal project with songs she wrote, both the music and lyrics in French, Greek and Portuguese with clear melodies and beautiful arrangements. One of the songs of this CD, the "Chanson du Passe" was already selected and transmissed from the Parisian Radio FIP (Radio France).
