Adriane Muttenthaler

(born in 1955, in Canada, and resident in Austria), composer. She grew up in Austria and studied at the University of Music and at the Vienna Conservatory. She is band leader of the jazz sextet CRISS-CROSS and has toured Europe, Asia and America. Muttenthaler was awarded the State Scholarship for Composition (1999). Her commissioned works include “Das Boesze Salonorchester “, musik aktuell- New Music in Lower Austria, and the Lower Austrian Wind soloists and others. She has played with Chet Baker, Wolfgang Puschni, Leo Wright, and others and is member of the Austrian Composers’s Society, The IGNM and the INOG. She uses conceptual composition techniques with considerable room for improvisation, deriving from jazz harmony and rhythm, combined with elements of elements of contemporary classical music.
