Angela Montemurro

Pianist. Teacher and composeer studied with Michele Marvulli, Fausto Zadra, Guido Agosti and Carlo Zecchi and for composition with Armando Renzi and Giovanni Misasi in Bari’s Conservatorio Piccinni, when Nino Rota was director. She has been professor of piano in the same conservatory since 1973 and one of her students, Alessio Bax won the International Competition in Leeds in the year 2000. She writes for all kinds of instrumental ensembles including the operatic theatre and her works have been performed in Italy and abroad. In March 2008 her “Via Crucis” for orchestra and choir was performed in the Aula Nervi of the Vatican before His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI. Each year she programmes a special 8th March event for Women Composers. She is co-director of the EurOrchestra da Camera of Bari together with her husband, conductor Francesco Lentin.
