Marija Ligeti Balint

(Pančevo, 28th May, 1972), pianist and composer who studied in the Faculty of Music in Belgrade with Nikola Rackov. She gained diplomas for pianoforte and harpsichord with Miloš Petrović and her postgraduate studies were undertaken with Nada Kolundžija. A grant allowed her to study with Balázs Szokolay at the Ferenc Liszt Academy in Budapest, where she specialized in the preparation and performance of works by Bartok, Ligeti and contemporary composers. She followed courses of contemporary music in Moscow and Szombathely with Imre Rohmann, Kocsis Zoltán and Pierre-Laurent Aimard and won two special first prizes in the state competition for Solfeggio given by the Miodrag Vasiljević fund. She has performed in Serbia, Hungary and Greece as a soloist and a chamber musician. Even though she has worked as a music editor and moderator for the Radio and as organizer of cultural events in Pančevo, she is best known as a teacher of piano at the Jovan Bandur Music school in the same city. Her works are for keyboard instruments: Passacaglia 250, for organ (2007), Bajka o Velikom čarobnjaku (2009) and i Patkice, for piano for six hands (2009).

Marina Leonardi

(Catania, 1970) è attiva come compositrice e didatta. Ha studiato pianoforte con Oria Dell’Angelo, e composizione con Giovanni Ferrauto, Alexander Mullenbach, Eliodoro Sollima e Alessandro Solbiati. Ha conseguito il diploma di pianoforte e il diploma di musica corale e direzione di coro. Dal 1994 è docente di Elementi di composizione per Didattica della musica presso l’Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “Vincenzo Bellini” di Catania. Ha al suo attivo varie composizioni cameristiche ed orchestrali, di cui alcune edite dalle Nuove Edizioni Neopoiesis. Ha curato alcune pubblicazioni di musica contemporanea edite dalla Verlag Neue Musik di Berlino e sta curando l’edizione italiana del volume Elements of 18th Century Counterpoint di W.G. Andrews e M. Sclater. Per il 2011 ha ricevuto una commissione dal Festival Pontino di Sermoneta.
