Waltraud Köttler

(born and resident in Austria), singer and composer. She studied jazz voice teaching at Anton Bruckner University in Linz. She was an instructor at Konservatorium Wien University for 16 years and currently teaches at the Jazzseminar Dornbirn. She does vocal coaching and leads ensembles at “JIMS”, the  Workshop for Jazz and Improvised music in Salzburg. Her creative musical doings are marked by stylistic diversity. These include folk music, electronic music, pop, jazz, improvised music and ethnic music. Her own songs (in English and in the Viennese dialect of German) feature personal expressivity, intimacy and magic- it’s about “how” and not about “what”
Discography: the four Elements, Jens Winther, David Liebman/  Copenhagen (participation on CD); Innermusic meets the Outside with Andreas Thaller (cd, ex 464-2), Brilanza with Peter Herbert and Huw Warren.
Performances: voice for the radio play my private show by Eberhard Petschinka, ORF, Bones, performance with Anita Kaya (Dance), Vienna, Paris; premieres of works by contemporary composers for voice and strings with the Janus String Quartet, Salzburg.
Awards: Youngsters of Art Award, St.  Polten.
