Katharina Klement

(born in 1963, in Graz, resident in Vienna), composer. Studies: piano, composition, a course in electro-acoustic & experimental music at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, course in music technology  at the University of York/UK, private studies in sculpture and dance improvisation. Klement is active as composer-performer in the field of noted and improvised instrumental and electronic music: instrumental and electronic compositions, interdisciplinary projects in the areas of music/ text/video/ performance, several works for mechanically and electronically prepared piano. She has made sound installations and is founder and member of several improvisation ensembles. Awards, scholarship and commissioned works include the 2001 Austro Mechana Publicity Prize, international performances and concerts. Since 2008 she has headed the computer music and electronic media program at the University of Music and performing Arts in Vienna.
