Manuela Kerer

(born in 1980, in Brixen (south Tirol), composer. In 2007, she completed her composition studies with M. Lichtfuss at the Provincial Conservatory if Tirol with distinction. In 2004 she completed her instrumental and vocal pedagogy degree in violin and a law degree, and in 2005 she completed psychology studies at the University of Innsbruck. Currently she is continuing composition studies with Alessandro Solbiati (Milan). Manuela Kerer primarily writes music, yet in addition is working on her Ph D dissertation on the topic “Non verbal (musical) memory in patiens with slight demential “(Department of psychiatry, Medical University Innsbruck) and the “Development of composers” rights in Austria from 1800-1900 (Innsbruck Law Faculty).For Manuela Kerer, one thing is clear: the entire world makes sound! She attempts to reflect this is in her music in various ways.
Selected works: son moussant, acoustic staging of the Tirol State Museum Ferdinandeum as architecture (cd 2006); Rasura, opera, libretto by kurt Lanthaler (Innsbruck, 2007); bleu marrant for ensemble and Power Point presentation, Schoenberg Center Vienna, “die reihe” ensemble (Vienna, 2007); Luna Chiairina opera for orchestra; Monddüne ensemble for quartett.
Awards: Austrian State Scholarship for Composition (2008)
