Johanna Eränkö

(born in 1981, in Lohja, Finland, resident in Espoo, Finland), composer. She studied composition from 2003 until 2009 at Tampere Conservatory (Tampere Polytechnic). Her teachers were Jouni Kaipainen and Juhani Nuorvala. She has attended various summer courses held by composers Jouni Kaipainen, Magnus Lindberg, Kimmo Hakola and Esa-Pekka Salonen. She has also studied composition with Harri Vuori at the Helsinki University, as part of her musicology studies. Her compositions have been performed in different festivals in Finland and abroad, including Tampere Biennale, Musica Nova in Helsinki, Korvat Auki! (Ears Open!), October of Contemporary Music in Oulu, Women in Music festival in Rochester, NY. She has composed chamber music. She has received various grants: for composition and studies: Suomen Säveltaiteen Tukisäätiö, 2009, pro Musica-säätiö (The Pro Musica foundation) 2009, The Majaoja Foundation, 2004.
