Anne Eltard

(born in 1960, in Copenhagen), composer. For more than thirty years she has worked as composer for theatre performances and soundscapes. Her basic work with samples, looping live and processing real sound into beats and groves, combinated with the instrumental skills, gives a very personal touch to her works. Byens Lyd was selected as finalist in the European sound contest Europe-a Soundscape. Lately she has composed and created sound design for an animation movie. With a profound background in Nordic folk music, combined with a curiosity for the limits of her instrument, she has developed a unique style. By using effects, loops and samples, she creates soundscapes ranging from spherical, dreamy music to strong, heavy groove and catchy phrases. She crosses the traditional limits of the violin by introducing effects and new ways of playing that are usually only heard from guitars.
