Cecilia Damström

( born in 1988 in Helsinki, Finland, resident in Tampere and Helsinki), composer. After graduating from high school in 2008 she began her studies in composition at Tampere University of Applied Sciences, School of music, Finland. She has studied under the instruction of Hannu Pohjannoro, Samuel Adler, Jonne Valtonen, Jouni Kaipainen, Jukka Tiensuu, Emilio Renard and Andrés Valero-Castells.. At Tampere Biennale festival for modern music her pieces have were performed twice, 2010 Die Berge and in 2012 Flying High. In 2011 her piece Outlandish Excursion was performed by the Avanti! Chamber Orchestra at the Suvisoitto festival in Porvoo, Finland.

Awards: In 2009 her piece Landet som icke är received a first prize in the competition arranged by the trust Majaoja-säätiö. In the same year her piece for mixed choir Han som du älskar finns inte mer received a third prize, and was published and performed in 2010
