Mariacristina de Santi

(born 16th December 1964 in Rome) composer and teacher. In 1990 she gained a diploma in piano at the "Santa Cecilia" Conservatory in Rome with Vera Gobbi Belcredi and in 1996 a diploma in composition with Giovanni Piazza. In the same year, she graduated in Literature at the "La Sapienza" University in Rome. She attended composition courses at the "Accademia Chigiana" in Siena and at the "Fondazione Romano Romanini" in Brescia with Azio Corghi and Mauro Bonificio. She also attended courses for Orff Schulwerk's methodology and practice with Giovanni Piazza, for rhythmic, according to
Jacques Dalcroze's methodology, with Luisa Di Segni Jaffè, and for music teaching with Boris Porena. Since then, she has carried out activities of music introductory at various music schools in Rome. Three of her works, Puer natus est nobis (brass octet), In notte placida (string quartet) and Noè noè (brass quintet), have been commissioned by the Fondazione Adkins Chiti: Donne in Musica for their concert series'.

Awards: Her Il Tesoro nascosto for youth chamber ensemble and her Karawata e le uova della serpentesca have been awarded the International competition "Suoni di Fiaba, Vittorio Veneto (Italy), 2005 and 2009; her Canto V, for narrator, soprano, string quartet and flute quartet, was awarded the I International Composition Competition "Danteinmusica", 2010.
