Elisabetta Capurso

(born in Mattuglie, Italy, resident in Rome), pianist, composer and musicologist. She graduated in Literature and Philosophy from the "Università La Sapienza" in Rome. Then she gained diplomas in Piano, Composition, Orchestral Conducting and Electronic Music. As a concert artist, she has performed for many important Italian and International associations, and as composer of orchestral, chamber and electronic music she has had numerous significant executions in Italy and abroad. Her piano work ...veniva il vento d'estate... was performed at the International Center of Contemporary Music "La Recoleta" in Buenos Aires in 2002 and at the International Festival of Contemporary Music in La Havana (Cuba) in 2003. In 1998 she has composed Voce mirabile for saxophone quartet, commissioned by the Fondazione Adkins Chiti: Donne in Musica, and in 2010 Tre cose solamente..., for female voice and organ, commissioned by the "Festival Internazionale di Lecce" (premiere 2011 in Lecce (Italy) and then performed at the "Festival Nuova Consonanza 2012"). About her work Après Alfa, for saxophone quartet, timpani and string, commissioned in 2008 by "I Solisti Aquilani" (premiere in 2010), the Italian musical critic Luca Pavanel wrote the article "In ascolto_Capurso, se il tempo non si ferma alla Alfa" (Il Giornale, Milano). She has taught couses and stages in foreign universities and Italian Academies, such as at the "Conservatorio Gioacchino Rossini" in Pesaro (Italy) and at the "Conservatorio Santa Cecilia" in Rome. She was also artistic director of the Specialization Courses and the "Festival Musicale di Offida".
