Raquel Cristóbal Ramos

(born in Madrid, Spain, 1973) composer. At a young age she moved to Tenerife, Canary Island, Spain, where she received piano and composition lessons and her whole training as pianist and composer. After she finished those studies, she went to Düsseldorf, Germany, in order to deepen her knowledge about composition with Manfred Trojahn at the Musikhochschule Robert- Schumann. She also complemented her training outside the islands, attending composition courses by renowned composers such as Zulema de la Cruz, Mauricio Sotelo, Toshio Hosokawa or José María Sánchez Verdú. Currently she teaches Analysis and Harmony at the Professional Music Conservatory of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain.

Awards: She has won several awards, the most important of them being the Honorable Mention received at the V International Composition Contest "Alberto Ginastera" for her symphonic piece "Sueño de la razón", which was premiered by the Symphonic Tenerife Orchestra. She also received the prize at the IX Choral Competition of La Laguna.
