Eliška Cílkovà

(born in Prague, resident in Prague), composer. She began playing the piano when she was four. She studied composition with Bořivoj Suchy at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory and Higher Specialized School in Prague. During her studies at the Conservatory, she also spent three years studying conducting under the direction of Michal Macourek. Since 2009 she has been studying composition at the Academy of performing Arts in Bratislava with L'Ubica Čekovskà. From September 2010 to 2011 Eliška studied at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna. Eliška Cílkovà is a member of the international composers association "4tones"and collaborates with the music group "Labua X", has founded two music groups, Jazzmaze and Delicate, and has composed the incidental music for a number of theatrical performances. Her works have been performed at many festivals within and outside the Czech Republic (Athena Festival (USA), BBIV (AU), SOOZVUK (SK), Bezručova Opava (CZ)). Her compositions The Dialogue for violin and piano and the Blue Room for solo piano won prizes at the Gramodeska International Composition Competition in 2008 and were released the same year on the CD Vinylovà and recorded for Czech Radio.
