Zeynep Çalıkoğlu Miles

Violist, composer and conductor was born in Ankara, Turkey 1982. She began her musical training by playing Piano. She graduated from the Hacettepe University conservatory Composition, and viola performance departments. Her works were performed and recorded by ensembles and orchestras. After completing her master's degree at the University of Memphis, she continued her quest as a composer, performer and an instructor. During her education she had the opportunity to study with Ilhan Baran, Istemihan Taviloglu, Turgay Erdener, Kamran Ince and John Baur, and performed with various professional orchestras, choirs and theatre. A resident of Memphis, Miles is an assistant of the Calvary Episcopal Choir; performer at Theatre Memphis productions; and an instructor of music theory, composition and performance in music schools in Memphis. Her latest work, a piece entitled, "Exultate Deo", was commissioned by St Mary's Cathedral, in honor of their 150th anniversary.
