Iris Bergcrantz

(born 1992, Malmö, Sweden residence Skurup) is a jazz vocalist, composer and arranger. She was born into a music family and has performed and sung all her life, starting in her mother’s choir as a four year old. With this choir she toured together with her parents and her siblings who were also singing or acting. As a nine year old she participated on her first CD. However it was in her teenage years that she made her decision to continue life as a musician and composer, and she started to study voice and music at Heleneholmsskolan, a music college, in Malmö, Sweden from where she also received a scholarship. Nowadays she sings with an a cappella group Åkervinda, who perform and arrange Swedish folk music themselves for 4 female voices. Bergcrantz also composes in different fields, jazz music or works in collaboration with her mother – classical/contemporary composer Anna-Lena Laurin. She has undertaken studies at New Park Music Centre in Dublin as well as at the jazz track at Skurups Folkhögskola where she is presently in her final year of studies. Bergcrantz has performed with artist such as; Anders Bergcrantz, Zoltan Csörsz, Mattias Hjorth, Jonas Holgersson, Lennart Gruvstedt, Andreas Pålsson among others.
