Marie-Hélène Bernard

(born in France), composer. She studied at the University of Pau, Paris VIII and Paris IV (doctorate in music) in the electro-acoustic class of Jean Schwarz at the ENM of Gennevilliers and in the composition class of Sergio Ortega at the ENM of Pantin. She has followed Masterclasses with Pascal Dusapin at the Centre Acanthes and with Bernard Cavanna at Atem, an instrumental, mixed and electroacoustic music composer, she had her works performed in Europe, the United States, Canada, China, Taiwan, South Korea and Japan. Invited in residence at the GRM studios, La Muse en circuit, Grande Fabrique, MIA and Césaré, she was also commissioned by the Ministry of Culture, the INA-GRM, the Radio France Musique ("Alla Breve"), the Détours de Babel and Futura festivals, the Césaré studio, the Marcelle Robert de Lacour foundation, the Shanghai Conservatory, the Orchestre National de Lyon ("Chantiers de la creation"). She was winner of the "Villa Médicis" in 2003 for a stay in China and in 2013 for a work in Korea. She is very interested in developing projects confronting occidental musicians and traditional Asian instrumentalists. Often combining her music with poetry (Jacques Roubaud, Mario Luzi, Chinese classical poets as Hanshan and Wang Wei or Japanese as Issa), she likes to compare her music with other arts. In 2009, she created the multimedia show Une seconde est un monde with the painter and poet Ma Desheng, and, in 2013, a sound and visual installation for the" Détours de Babel "festival from ethnological archives. Radio France-Culture producer ("Atelier de creation", "Chemins de la musique"), she obtained a scholarship from SCAM in 1992 and 2003.
