Reinalda Blanco Pons

(born in Girona, Spain, 1976), composer, pianist and conductor. She began her musical studies when she was 7 years old. She moved to the conservatory to pursue higher studies in music. She continued improving her piano technique with the pianist Joaquin Achucarro at the International Courses held in Torroella de Montgrí (Baix Empordà). In the field of composition she had worked with the composer Leonardo Balada and she had assisted and worked in courses and lectures given by Carles Guinovart, Salvador Brotons and so on. She studied composition and instrumentation with the Catalan composer Carles Guinovart, at the Liceo High Music Conservatory. Since 2001, she has played as a solo pianist and is part of a group of pianists who premiered contemporary works, PICOM. As composer, her catalog of works consists of more than 60 compositions. For four years she has conducted the Choir of St. Anna of L'Estartit (Girona), founded the project of forming a new chamber orchestra, the Projecte JOCG-Jove Orquestra de Cambra Ciutat de Girona and she designs software for the teaching of music.

Awards: In 2000 and 2001 summer, she was awarded a scholarship given by the Authors and Publishers General Society (SGAE).
