Maria Jose Álvarez Borondo

(born in Madrid, Spain) composer, singer and teacher. She obtained a BA in Classics at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. She also graduated in singing at the Conservatorio de música Teresa Berganza with professors Maria Jose Sanchez, Paquita Parriego and Bridget Clark. There she studied composition with Gabriel Fernandez Alvez, gaining special distinction in that speciality. She has studied choral conducting at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and she was part of Leteica Música, Andanza, Capilla Jerónimo de Carrión and currently she is part of VokalArs. It also collaborates with other groups such as Mater Saule or Coro de Cámara de Madrid. Today she also provides specialist services on the foundation Psicoballet Madrid, working directly with disabled persons and monitors and future teachers of the method. Professionally she combines her musical activities as singer, songwriter, arranger and choral director with teaching in secondary schools, where she developed her work as a teacher specializing in music education. The center, where she works, has carried out collaborative projects with theater and choral groups and participated in the European Comenius musical activity.
